OVER SIXTY YEARS OF
ECO-SUSTAINABLE REGENERATED YARNS

Filatura Astro has been manufacturing over the last sixty years regenerated yarns obtained from pre-dyed scraps cotton and wool sorted by colour. Since scraps cotton is already pre-dyed, re dyeing is not necessary. The environmental benefit due to the saving on water energy and chemical products is significant. Thanks to this valuable process the scraps material that otherwise would be destined to retting with a negative environmental impact-can be recycled and reused.

OUR TRANSFORMATION PROCESS

The process begins with the recovery of cotton and wool fabric scraps which have been rejected in the manufacturing of clothing.
We tear the rags and create colored cotton or wool fibers ready for spinning.
We give new life to recycled fibers spinning it again in new and perfect cones.
The new yarn is ready for the weaving and/or knitwear factories which will transform it into completely eco-sustainable products.
The obtained product can be manufactured for clothing, home textile and furniture eco-sustainable.

OUR HISTORY

Filatura Astro was established in 1956 and was, at the beginning, a traditional carding mill specialized in the manufacturing of regenerated coloured yarn. The firm has always been managed by Gaslini and Mosca families and they started soon exporting abroad its yarn. During the 80s the Open-End machinery was added to the traditional spinning but only at the beginning of the 90s, Filatura Astro decided to bet exclusively on open-end technology.

Nowadays Filatura Astro is equipped with the most innovative machinery from the technological point of view. All the manufacturing steps, from tearing to spinning are carried out in-house. Flexible and scrupulous to quality, Filatura Astro is able to offer a wide range of yarns, both for typology and yarn count.
